StarWars is in 1977 door George Lucas en zijn bedrijf Lucasfilm Ltd. bedacht en geproduceerd. Het verhaal van Luke Skywalker en het gevecht met de slechte Galactic Empire en Darth Vader was een groot succes. Lucasfilm Ltd. werd op 30 oktober 2012 voor 4,05 miljard dollar verkocht aan de Walt Disney Company. Door de jaren heen zijn er veel films en series gebaseerd op het originele verhaal uitgebracht. Een goed voorbeeld hiervan is de grote hit "The Mandalorian"
