This copy has a CGC Universal Grade of 9.8 and is housed in a transparent CGC holder with a blue label. The comic bears the cover date of January 1992 and is the Direct Edition. The cut-out claw marks on the outer cover reveal the underlying artwork and make this edition instantly recognizable within a Wolverine collection.

The issue was written by Larry Hama, with artwork by Marc Silvestri. The story is part of the Shiva Scenario storyline and further explores Logan's past and his connection to Weapon X. It also sheds new light on part of Wolverine's origin. The involvement of several X-Men places his personal quest within the broader world of Marvel's mutants.

Marc Silvestri and Dan Green provided the cover, which is designed as a confidential dossier with the inscriptions Codename: Wolverine and Top Secret. The yellow cardboard, dossier stamps, and three claw cuts match the theme of hidden information about Logan. At the bottom left is the Fantastic Four anniversary illustration that belongs with this Direct Edition. The interior pages were graded by CGC as part of the complete copy; the comic remains in the sealed holder for this purpose.

For collectors, this edition combines a striking cover design with the work of Hama and Silvestri from the early nineties. The grade of 9.8 makes this copy suitable for a collection where high condition is important. The transparent holder offers a view of both the front and back. The grading applies to the comic itself; any signs of wear on the plastic outer holder must be assessed separately.

"I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn't very nice."
— Wolverine, Marvel Comics

Product information:

WARNING!
