The Bandai Spirits DX Chogokin VF-17S Nightmare Stealth Valkyrie brings Gamlin Kizaki's machine from Macross 7 to life as a transformable action figure. In Battroid Mode, this version stands approximately 25 cm tall. The model combines ABS and PVC with die-cast metal parts and can be displayed in Fighter, GERWALK, and Battroid Mode. This brings the Nightmare's various forms together in a single collectible.
The VF-17S is the Stealth Valkyrie piloted by Gamlin Kizaki. Its angular design sets this machine apart within Macross 7, especially when the wings and fuselage come together to form the streamlined Fighter form. In robot form, the broad shoulders, chest section, and mechanical proportions are emphasized. An included pilot figure makes it possible to display Gamlin in the cockpit of his own craft as well.
Bandai has incorporated several functional details into the design. The landing gear can be deployed for a ground display, while the included display stand provides support for the different forms. The chest cannon is movable, and the barrels at the elbows can be extended. The Gun Pod can be held and can also be attached under the craft in Fighter Mode. Three pairs of interchangeable hands and covers for the left and right arm armor complete the equipment.
For Macross collectors, the appeal lies primarily in the combination of transformation, the recognizable VF-17S design, and the different display options. The Battroid form emphasizes articulation and armament, while Fighter and GERWALK reveal other aspects of the design. This Gamlin Kizaki version therefore fits both in a collection centered on Macross 7 and in a broader collection of DX Chogokin Valkyries.
