This Rabbit Hole Batman action figure was released in 2013 by DC Collectibles and is based on one of the most surreal moments from Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham City. Unlike the regular Batman figures from Series 1 through 4, this is a separately released special edition.
During the Mad Hatter side mission, Batman is drugged by Jervis Tetch and dragged into a bizarre hallucination entirely inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Batman is literally "down the rabbit hole" while the Mad Hatter tries to control his mind.
Rabbit Hole Batman is based on Batman's appearance during this hallucination scene. The familiar Arkham City Batsuit features a striking bluish and purplish color scheme that mimics the distorted and unnatural nature of the scene. As a result, this version deviates significantly in appearance from the regular Arkham City Batman.
DC Collectibles used the recognizable Arkham City Batman design and translated the unique in-game color scheme into an official 6.75-inch tall figure. The figure comes with a Batarang and features the detailed sculpting characteristic of the original Arkham series.
Due to the specific reference to the Mad Hatter mission and the distinct deco, Rabbit Hole Batman is an interesting variant for collectors who want to go beyond just the regular Series 1 through Series 4 figures.
