This Batman action figure was released in 2018 by DC Collectibles as number 1 in the DC Essentials series. The figure is based on Batman's modern DC Rebirth appearance and the design of comic artist Jason Fabok.
With DC Rebirth, DC Comics brought several classic elements back to the DC Universe in 2016, combined with developments from the preceding New 52 period. Batman also received a refreshed look. The familiar gray and black costume was given a striking black Bat symbol with a yellow outline, making the design look both modern and recognizably classic.
DC Collectibles used Batman as the first figure in the DC Essentials line. This series was intended as a successor to DC Comics Icons and brought well-known DC characters together in a uniform scale with extensive articulation.
Batman is approximately 6.75 inches tall and features extensive articulation, allowing for various dynamic poses. The streamlined body design and the long cape closely match Jason Fabok's modern interpretation of the Dark Knight.
This version is also known among collectors as Rebirth Batman Version 1. That distinction is important, because DC Collectibles released a second Rebirth Batman in 2020 within the same DC Essentials series as number 23.
