This The Joker with Scarface action figure from Batman: Arkham Asylum Series 1 was released in 2011 by DC Direct and is based on the striking design of The Joker from the hit video game Batman: Arkham Asylum by Rocksteady Studios. The figure belongs to the first series of Arkham Asylum figures from DC Direct, alongside Batman, Harley Quinn, and Scarecrow.
In Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Joker seemingly allows himself to be taken back to Arkham Asylum by Batman without much resistance. However, his arrest turns out to be part of a larger plan. Once inside, The Joker manages to escape and takes control of the asylum. With Arkham full of escaped criminals and supervillains, the island becomes one big trap for Batman.
DC Direct brings the chaotic look of The Joker from the game to life in a figure of approximately 6.7 inches, or about 17 centimeters. His signature purple suit, wild green hair, unnaturally pale face, and exaggerated grin stay true to his appearance in Arkham Asylum.
Special to this release is the included Scarface. The small ventriloquist dummy of about 2 inches, or 5 centimeters, is best known as the sinister partner of The Ventriloquist and can also be found in the Arkham Asylum game. This makes this version more than just a regular Joker figure and serves as a recognizable reference to the world of Arkham.
This concerns the original Series 1 release from 2011, brought out under the name DC Direct. This makes this The Joker with Scarface an interesting early collectible from the now extensive Batman: Arkham line.
