This Batman action figure from Batman: Arkham City Series 3 was released in 2012 and is based on the Dark Knight as he appears in Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham City. The figure is part of the third series of Arkham City action figures, which also included The Penguin, Azrael, Ra's al Ghul, and two different Clown Thugs.
In Batman: Arkham City, an entire section of Gotham City has been turned into a massive walled prison. Under the leadership of Hugo Strange, Gotham's most dangerous criminals are left to their own devices within the walls. Batman enters Arkham City to uncover Strange's true plans and finds himself caught in a conflict with, among others, The Joker, Penguin, Ra's al Ghul, and numerous other well-known adversaries.
This Series 3 version features Batman once again in his recognizable Arkham City Batsuit. The design combines the classic gray-and-black look of Batman with the more tactical and armored details characteristic of the Arkham universe. The long black cape, utility belt, cowl, and large black Bat-emblem ensure the figure closely matches his appearance in the game.
The figure is approximately 6.75 to 7 inches, or about 17 centimeters tall, and features multiple points of articulation. This allows the Batman figure to scale perfectly with the other characters from the Batman: Arkham City action figure line.
This Series 3 release appeared in 2012, during the transition period from DC Direct to the DC Collectibles brand name. The original product registrations for this specific Batman list DC Direct as the manufacturer.
