Character:
Hasbro brought Richard Rider to the Marvel Universe line with Nova #019 from Series 4. This 3.75-inch action figure is based on the cosmic Marvel hero in his recognizable Nova uniform and was released in 2012 as part of Wave 20 of the Marvel Universe series.
Richard Rider began his career as an ordinary teenager before being chosen by the dying Xandarian Rhomann Dey to inherit his powers. This made Rider a member of the Nova Corps, the intergalactic peacekeeping force of Xandar. Following the destruction of a large part of the Corps during the Annihilation Wave, his role within the cosmic Marvel universe gained even more significance.
This version depicts Richard Rider in his recognizable Nova gear, complete with his helmet and the golden armor details of his costume. The compact 3.75-inch scale aligns with the rest of the Marvel Universe line and makes it possible to place Nova alongside both Earth-based and cosmic Marvel characters from the same series.
The original single-carded packaging bears the Series 4 number #019 and also includes the collectible comic shot characteristic of this period of the Marvel Universe line.
With its focus on Richard Rider and the classic Nova design, this version is an interesting addition to any Marvel Universe collection, especially for collectors who focus on the cosmic side of Marvel surrounding Nova, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Annihilation stories.
