Character:
This Hasbro Star Wars: The Black Series Maz Kanata #49 brings the owner of the castle on Takodana to the 6-inch scale line. The figure appeared in 2017 in the numbered Red Line packaging. Maz is approximately 10 cm tall, intentionally sculpted smaller than human characters in the same series. Her signature goggles, layered clothing, and included chest match her appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Maz Kanata hosts travelers, smugglers, and old acquaintances such as Han Solo in her castle. When Rey, Finn, and BB-8 arrive on Takodana, she becomes involved in their fight against the First Order. In the basement of her castle, she keeps the lightsaber that previously belonged to Anakin and Luke Skywalker. The encounter with Maz and the discovery of this weapon form an important moment in Rey's story.
Hasbro has equipped the figure with articulated joints and independently adjustable goggle lenses. The plastic vest can be removed, and the clothing features details such as bracelets, a necklace, and wraps around the boots. Maz comes with a DH-17 blaster, a chest that can open, and the loose hilt of the Skywalker lightsaber. The hilt fits into the chest, making the accessories a recognizable reference to the film. No lightsaber blade is included.
This version fits into a Black Series display with Rey, Finn, Han Solo, and other characters from the sequel trilogy. The smaller stature and the chest provide variety among the other figures. For collectors of boxed releases, number 49 and the black box with red accents are recognizable components of the Red Line. The offered item comes from a private collection and has a Near Mint box with light scratches on the transparent window.
