Hasbro brings Queen Amidala to Star Wars: The Vintage Collection with this original #VC084 release from the first generation of the line. This VC1.0 release originally appeared around 2011/2012 and is based on Padmé Amidala's appearance in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
As the young Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala finds herself in the middle of the conflict with the Trade Federation when her planet is occupied. Although her elaborate ceremonial wardrobe is often associated with the character, this figure depicts Amidala in her practical Post-Senate outfit. In these clothes, she can move more freely during the events that ultimately lead to the liberation of Naboo.
Hasbro developed Queen Amidala #VC084 at the time as an entirely new figure. The sculpt combines her recognizable hairstyle and attire from The Phantom Menace with the smaller 3.75-inch scale for which The Vintage Collection is known.
Queen Amidala comes with a blaster pistol and features multiple points of articulation for various display poses. The classic Kenner-inspired cardback also makes the original release appealing to collectors who keep their Vintage Collection figures unopened.
This VC1.0 should not be confused with the later 2021 VC84 reissue. For that release, Hasbro updated the face paint, clothing paint, and packaging, among other details. As a result, the original VC1.0 remains a distinctly separate version within The Vintage Collection.
"I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to war."
— Queen Amidala, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
